Basketball camp concludes at Pelling

GEYZING,: A 10-day basketball training camp organised by Gyalshing district administration concluded Thursday with a brief valedictory programme at Pelling senior secondary school.

Rural Development minister Sonam Lama attended the programme as the chief guest. Also present were zilla adhakshya D.S. Limboo, Gyalshing DC Yishey D. Yongda, chief education officer Subhia G. and other officials.

A total of 88 students from 11 schools under Gyalshing district had attended the free coaching camp.

The fully residential camp was held at Kyongsa girls’ senior secondary school for girl students and Pelling senior secondary school for boys.

Training was imparted by certified basketball coaches.

“I learned a lot and got exposed to various techniques of the game which I was previously unaware of,” said Aakash Tamang, a student and an aspiring basketball player.

On the last day of the training camp, exhibition matches were also played.

Minister Sonam Lama lauded the efforts of the Gyalshing district administration for prioritising sports and for organising this coaching camp. He motivated the student to continue with their sporting activities and asked them to make full use of the skills learnt from the coaching camp.
