Central interlocutor meets GNLF president

DARJEELING,: A meeting was held on Sunday between the Centre-appointed interlocutor Pankaj Kumar Singh and Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) president Mann Ghising here at Darjeeling.

“The meeting, conducted as a courtesy call, provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on various contemporary political, social, and other important issues concerning the Darjeeling Hills, Terai, and Dooars regions,” said a GNLF press release.

The GNLF shared that special emphasis was placed on the aspirations of the Gorkha community, regional challenges, and possible long-term solutions to address them.

“During the discussion, the GNLF president clearly presented the sentiments, rights, and political concerns of the Gorkha people before the interlocutor. He emphasized the need to resolve the region’s complex issues through democratic dialogue and constructive initiatives,” said the press release.

The GNLF added that the meeting also witnessed positive deliberations on strengthening mutual understanding, trust, and the process of dialogue.

Only recently on June 4, a meeting had also been held between West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and the interlocutor with Darjeeling MP Raju Bista at Kolkata.

Bista had then claimed that the Bengal Chief Minister had assured to collaborate positively to achieve a constitutional solution for this region.

Bista had earlier also stated that the interlocutor would meet different stakeholders here which not only included the BJP alliance parties but also leaders from the opposition.
