Ministers inspect newly laid pre-fabricated screening structure at Melli

NAMCHI (IPR): Land Revenue & Disaster Management minister Kunga Nima Lepcha and Transport minister Sanjeet Kharel along with Zoom-Salghari MLA Sunita Gajmer today visited and inspected the newly setup pre-fabricated structure at Melli screening centre.
It may be mentioned here that the earlier screening structure which was temporarily set up was replaced by the pre-fabricated structure and has been made functional from today onwards.
The dignitaries thoroughly took stock of the Melli screening centre and inquired about the basic facilities in place at the centre. They also lauded the hard work and relentless efforts of all the frontline workers who are stationed at the centre and provided words of motivation for them to carry on with their responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication.
During the inspection, DC (south) Ragul K. briefed the dignitaries about the systematic functioning of the screening centre since its inception on May 5. He also mentioned that the stranded returnees were screened and examined following all safety norms in the screening centre.
Similarly, the visitors were also categorically informed about the features of the screening centre which comprises of contactless hand-wash units, mobile bio-toilets with solar lights, waiting sheds, changing rooms, administrative set up and a refreshment corner for the front line workers. He also apprised the ministers that various departments of south district are sponsoring a day's meal as an act of goodwill to all the frontline workers deployed at the screening centre.
As informed by CMO (south) Dr. D.C.Sharma, the pre-fabricated structure is a contactless screening setup which has a total number of three screening units. He also informed about the existence of an intercom facility to facilitate contactless communication between the frontline workers and returnees as and when required. Additionally, he also threw light on how a thorough assessment and examination of the stranded people of south and west districts is being undertaken at the centre.
