GANGTOK,: The Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim,
marked a successful beginning at the inaugural day of Travel & Tourism Fair
(TTF) Kolkata 10th-12th July, with the Sikkim Tourism Pavilion receiving an
overwhelming response from visitors, travel professionals and dignitaries.
A
press release informs that the pavilion emerged as one of the major attractions
at the travel fair, highlighting Sikkim's diverse tourism experiences and
reaffirming the state's growing prominence as a preferred travel destination.
The event is one of the major promotional activities the department is
undertaking through the Sikkim INSPIRES project.
A
total of 43 tourism stakeholders from Sikkim participated in the event in the
first day, representing the State's vibrant tourism industry.
The
delegation included members of the Travel Agents Association of Sikkim (TAAS),
Sikkim United Tour Operators (SUTO), Sikkim Hotels and Restaurants Association
(SHRA), All Sikkim Tourism and Hospitality Association (ASTHA), Pelling Tourism
Development Association (PTDA) and Village Tourism Development Committees from
Namchi, Soreng and Pakyong districts along with leading tour operators, travel
agencies and hospitality representatives. Their collective participation
showcased the rich tourism potential of Sikkim, ranging from nature, adventure
and wellness tourism to culture, heritage and rural tourism.
The
Sikkim Tourism Pavilion had the honour of welcoming Shankar Ghosh, Minister of
Tourism & Parliamentary Affairs, Government of West Bengal, Satpal Maharaj,
Minister for Tourism, Culture, PWD & Irrigation, Government of Uttarakhand,
Rohan A. Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics
& Communications, Printing & Stationery, Government of Goa, and Khun
Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul General of Thailand.
The
distinguished guests visited the pavilion, interacted with the exhibitors and
appreciated the State's unique tourism offerings and its commitment to
sustainable and responsible tourism development.
The
pavilion was also graced by the presence of Narayan Khatiwada, Chairman, Rural
Development Department, Government of Sikkim, who encouraged the participating
stakeholders and appreciated their efforts in promoting the State's tourism
sector.
The
Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, under the
visionary leadership of the Chief Minister, continues to make dedicated efforts
to position Sikkim as a premier tourism destination through active participation
in major national events, the release mentions.
Throughout
the day, the Sikkim Tourism Pavilion witnessed impressive footfall and
sustained engagement from travel trade professionals, buyers and visitors,
making the opening day highly encouraging and productive. The enthusiastic
response reflected the increasing interest in Sikkim's unique tourism
experiences and reinforced the state's reputation as one of India's most
sought-after destinations.
Representing
the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim Tourist
Information Centre (TIC), Kolkata, Rina Brahma, Joint Director, along with
departmental officials, actively coordinated the participation of the Sikkim
delegation and extended continuous support to the tourism stakeholders,
ensuring the successful representation of Sikkim at Travel & Tourism Fair
(TTF) Kolkata 2026, the release adds.
