NAMCHI, (IPR): As per the direction of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, District Collector-cum-Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA),Namchi,AnupaTamling attended the ex-gratia relief distribution programme organised by Jalpaiguri district administration to hand over ex-gratia assistance to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the tunnel incident at Samardung under Namchidistrict.
The Chief Minister had directed that the ex-gratia assistance be disbursed to the bereaved families in their respective home States, enabling them to receive the relief closer to their place of residence rather than travelling to Sikkim.
During the programme, ex-gratia relief amounting to Rs. 4,00,000 from the Government of Sikkim was distributed to the next of kin and nominees of each of the 11 victims from Jalpaiguri district.
The ex-gratia assistance was provided to extend immediate financial support to the bereaved families affected by the tragic tunnel incident.
The programme was also attended by NagrakataMLA Puna Bhengra, Mal MLA SukraOraon, Jalpaiguri Additional District Magistrate (Land & Land Reforms) Dr.Haaris Rashid, Mal Sub-Divisional Officer Utkarsh Khandal IAS, NamchiAdditional District Collector (Headquarters) Subash Ghimirey, NamchiDistrict Project Officer Suraj Rai along with representatives of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Jalpaiguri and other officials of the district administrations of Namchi and Jalpaiguri
