NAMCHI, (IPR): Zilla Adhyakshya Anjeeta Rajalim formally inaugurated the
two-days district level programme under the Sikkim Integrated Service Provision
and Innovation for Reviving Economics (INSPIRES) initiative, as part of the
Sikkim Design Week Namchi Chapter at Central Park, Namchi.
The
event was organised by Commerce & Industries department in collaboration
with National Institute of Design (NID).
The
‘District Design Connect’ is a flagship initiative of Sikkim Design Week aimed
at showcasing the State's rich creative heritage, its emerging industries, and
a thriving creative economy. This platform seeks to invigorate the region’s
creative sectors by opening up new avenues for artisans, entrepreneurs, and
innovators.
The
inaugural day began with Anjeeta Rajalim visiting Namchi Central Park, where an
impressive display of traditional and contemporary arts and crafts marked a
significant moment for local creatives. The exhibition vividly portrayed
Sikkim’s cultural diversity and artistic flair.
She
also visited the ongoing workshops, expressing her appreciation for the
seamless blend of heritage and innovation. She actively engaged with local
artisans and craftsmen, sharing valuable suggestions and demonstrating a deep
understanding of artistic expression and sustainable development.
The
District Design Connect is supported by National Institute of Design (NID)
Ahmedabad, ALSiSAR Impact Workshop and Anime and Manga Workshop (Kapi Studio).
This collaboration is a pioneering step towards providing national and global
exposure for local talents and uplifting grassroots creative economy.
By
fostering such meaningful partnerships, the initiative aims to harness the
creative potential embedded within communities and to promote inclusive
economic development through design-led innovation.
