Chief Minister calls on PM Modi, extends invitation for Sikkim’s 50th Statehood celebration

NEW DELHI, (IPR): As part of the ongoing celebrations marking the 50th year of Sikkim’s Statehood, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister extended a formal invitation on behalf of the people of Sikkim, requesting the Prime Minister to grace the year-long Golden Jubilee Statehood celebrations. The Prime Minister has graciously accepted the invitation and expressed his willingness to visit Sikkim to participate in the commemorative events scheduled for May 29, 2025.

The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to congratulate the Prime Minister on the resounding success of Operation Sindoor, a significant milestone in India’s fight against terrorism. The successful execution of the operation, the Chief Minister noted, has greatly strengthened national pride and underscored India’s global standing as a nation committed to peace and security.

Expressing deep appreciation for the Prime Minister’s continued support to the State, the Chief Minister conveyed heartiest gratitude for sparing time for the meeting and for his guidance and encouragement to the people of Sikkim.

As the State prepares for the grand celebrations of this historic milestone, the Chief Minister called upon the citizens to come together in unity and extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to the Prime Minister during his upcoming visit to the Himalayan State.
