GANGTOK, : In celebration of 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood, the Bodybuilder’s
Association ofSikkim organized the 7th edition of Mr.Sukhim, featuring various
categories such as Bodybuilding, Open Men’s Physique, Open Physique, and Junior
Bodybuilding.
The
championship held here on Saturday brought together athletes and fitness
enthusiasts from across the State, celebrating not just physical strength and
endurance, but also unity and the spirit of Sikkim’s progress over the past five
decades.
Sports
& Youth Affairs minister Raju Basnet was the chief guest for the event, also
attended by Upper Burtuk MLA and Bodybuilder’s Association of Sikkim president
Kala Rai as the guest of honour. Both dignitaries praised the participants and
organizers for promoting strength, discipline, and community pridethrough
bodybuilding.
The
event commenced with the bodybuilding competition,divided into various weight
categories — 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, and above 65 kg —showcasing the strength,
discipline, and dedication of participants from across the State.
Kalyan Tamang,
a resident of Sichey, won the Sr. Champion of the Champions Title of Mr.Sukhim
2024. Having also clinched the title in the 6th edition, this marks his second
consecutive win.
A
seasoned athlete, Kalyan had previously bagged a gold medal at the 1st
Northeast Championship 2025 which was held at Gangtok,making his repeat victory
a proud moment for the State.
Equally
noteworthy was the triumph of Anita Chettri in the Women’s Champion of Champions
– Women’s Physique category.
A
resident of Geyzing and a member ofIron Pump Gym, Anita is a IBBFs international
athlete whose graceful and poignantposing won over both judges and audience
alike. Her presence brought elegance,strength, and inspiration to the event.
She would also be representing the nation andSikkim in the 57th Asian
Championship in Thailand.
In
the Open Men’s Physique – Champion of Champions category, the title went to NorbuBhutiawhose
commanding form and presentation made him a clearwinner. He will be
representing India at the World and Asian Championships.
In
the Junior Bodybuilding category, AshishLimbu emerged as the Junior
Mr.Sukhim,showcasing promising talent and dedication at a young age.
From the powerful routines on stage to the encouragement
from the audience and dignitaries,
the event exemplified how sports can unite communities and inspire excellence.
As
the champions take their titles home, they also carry forward a message of
resilience, discipline, and the limitless potential of Sikkim’s rising
generation.
