GANGTOK, : Sikkim has recorded an impressive overall result in the CBSE class X and
XII board examinations this year with Chief Minister PS Golay extending his
heartiest congratulations to the students.
“Heartiest
congratulations to the students of Sikkim! It fills me with immense pride and
joy to see the remarkable improvement in the academic performance of our
students across the State,” said the Chief Minister on his social media page on
Wednesday.
The
Chief Minister shared that in the Class 10 CBSE examinations, the pass
percentage has risen from 66.87% in 2024 to an impressive 79.97% in 2025,
across both government and private schools.
In
Class 12, the success continues, with the pass rate increasing from 87.49% in
2024 to 89.41% in 2025, he said.
“These
results are not just numbers, they highlight the dedication of our students,
the commitment of our educators, and the transformative impact of our
government’s continued investment in education, especially through our
Mentorship Programme, covering all 32 constituencies across the State,” said
Golay.
“This is the beginning of a true education revolution in Sikkim. Let us continue to nurture talent, reward hard work, and build a future where every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to shine,” said the Chief Minister.
‘Results mark CM
Mentorship Programme’s substantial impact’
In
a media statement, Chief Minister’s press secretary Yougan Tamang said the
significant improvement in CBSE board examination results reflect not only the
diligence of students and the steadfast support of families and educators, but
also the effectiveness of the State's proactive educational policies.
“At
the heart of this progress is the Chief Minister’s Mentorship Programme (CMMP),
a targeted educational reform launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem
Singh Tamang-Golay. Introduced during the 2024 State Teachers’ Day celebration,
CMMP is designed to address systemic academic challenges and provide sustained,
individualised support to students across the State,” said Yougan.
Under
the CMMP, mentorship, academic assistance, and performance-based interventions
have been implemented in all 32 constituencies. The programme has mobilised
trained resource persons, school leaders, teachers, and local volunteers to
collectively work toward a more equitable and outcomes-oriented education
system.
“The
CMMP is not a temporary solution but a long-term strategic mission aimed at
creating a globally relevant, future-oriented education ecosystem. It
underscores the shift from reactive to preventative educational planning,
ensuring every student has access to the tools and mentorship they need to succeed
in a competitive world,” said Yougan.
Similarly,
the Education department highlighted that the significant improvement in the
CBSE board exams for 2024-25 academic year marks the CMMP’s substantial impact.
The
Chief Minister’s Mentorship Programme was launched as a State-wide mission to
ensure 100% pass percentage in class X by engaging subject teachers, resource
teachers and experts in the targeted coaching session.
“The
pass percentage in class X has increased from 66.87% in 2024 to an impressive
79.97% in 2025 marking a substantial impact of the Chief Minister’s Mentorship
Programme initiated during the two-month winter vacation. Similarly, the Class
XII pass percentage has risen from 87.49% to 89.41%,” said the Education
department in a press statement.
The Education department expressed its deepest gratitude to the Chief Minister for his unwavering commitment to the development of education in the State. His visionary leadership and continued support particularly through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Mentorship Programme have created an environment that nurtures learning and growth for every student in the State, the department said.
‘Sikkim’s best-ever CBSE results’
Meanwhile,
the Association of School Heads credited the CM mentorship programme and reforms
for Sikkim’s best-ever CBSE results and congratulated all the stakeholders.
“This
year, government schools in Sikkim have shown remarkable consistency and
growth, with several students scoring above 90%—a testament to the collective
hard work of students, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents. Many schools
in rural and remote areas have also reported first-time 100% pass results,
showcasing the strengthening of educational standards across the State,” said
the association in a press statement.
The
association recorded that the Chief Minister's Mentorship Programme has played
a transformative role in shaping the academic environment of Sikkim. “The
visionary initiative, personally overseen by the Chief Minister has bridged
gaps in guidance, motivation, and exposure for students. Regular mentoring
sessions, interaction with subject experts, motivational talks, and emphasis on
holistic development has significantly contributed to building students'
confidence and academic discipline,” said the association.
The association also acknowledged the leadership of Education minister Raju Basnet whose consistent guidance, school visits, and proactive communication have uplifted the morale of school heads and educators across the State. The close coordination and committed efforts of senior officials at the Education department, Gangtok, have ensured smooth execution of reforms, efficient resource distribution, and academic preparedness across institutions, it said.
