GANGTOK,: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) convened a coordination meeting of
its Pakyong District Committee at Rhenock on Sunday in preparation for the
upcoming two-day visit of Union Home minister Amit Shah to Sikkim.
The
meeting was chaired by minister Arun Upreti, and attended by minister-cum-area
MLA Puran Kumar Gurung, CM’s advisor Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara, political
secretary Bikash Basnet, deputy Mayor Tshering Palden Bhutia, Zilla Adhyaksha
Ladenla Bhutia, Zilla Upa Adhyaksha Prava Pradhan, ex-MLA Hemedra Adhikari,
vice president in-charge (Pakyong District) Milan Silal, chairpersons, OSDs,
CLC presidents, zilla panchayats, panchayats, and other party functionaries.
A SKM
press release informs that the meeting began with a welcome address by chairman
Karma Tashi Bhutia, followed by speeches from Sabin Subba (Pakyong district
youth convenor), Prava Pradhan, Milan Silal, Bikash Basnet, Puran Gurung, and
Arun Upreti.
It
was briefed that the Union Home minister will arrive in Gangtok on October 25,
to grace the celebrations of 50 Years of Sikkim’s Statehood, and on October 26,
he is expected to attend the event at Rhenock Senior Secondary School under
Chujachen constituency, where he will address the gathering under the ‘Vibrant
Village’ initiative envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During
the preparatory meeting, discussions were held on volunteer management, public
participation, logistics, and overall coordination to ensure the event’s grand
success.
Addressing
the gathering, minister Puran Gurung expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Prem
Singh Tamang (Golay) for selecting Chujachen constituency as one of the venues
for this historic visit. He assured full cooperation from all stakeholders and
called for unity among all members to make the programme a memorable success.
In
his address, minister cum party secretary general Arun Upreti highlighted that
this visit is a moment of pride for Sikkim and a reflection of the strong bond
between CM Prem Singh Tamang and the Union Government. He stated that Amit
Shah’s visit marks a significant milestone in Sikkim’s history and will benefit
the State immensely.
He
urged party workers to extend full support and coordination with the concerned
departments and ensure a heartfelt and rousing welcome to the Union Home minister.
He also personally reviewed the ongoing preparations and guided the team on
various logistical aspects.

meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution to make the upcoming visit a
