Advisory committee discuss challenges & solutions for Pakyong Airport resumption

PAKYONG, (IPR): MP Lok Sabha-cum-chairman of the Pakyong Airport Advisory Committee, Indra Hang Subba, chaired the second Pakyong Airport Advisory Committee meeting at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre, Pakyong on Saturday.

The meeting aimed to address the challenges and discuss the key aspects for the resumption of airport operations.

The meeting also had the presence of the committee members including District Collector, Rohan Agawane; Senior Superintendent of Police, Pakyong, Paru Ruchal; director AAI, Balasaheb Pote; CA to CM, Urgen Lepcha; DFO(T) Sonam Pintso Bhutia; GM NHIDCL, Apun Bhaumik; Sonam Chophel Sherpa, Yap Tshering Kazi and Diwakar Basnett along with officials from Airport Authority of India.

Highlighting the importance of resumption of the Pakyong Greenfield Airport, Indra Hang Subba encouraged all committee members to collaborate effectively to facilitate development that will benefit the local community and economy.

He advised enhancing transparency regarding airport updates through video updates and press releases, further directing to conduct a joint survey with concerned authorities to tackle existing issues related to the airport.

The committee conducted a thorough review of the actions taken since the last meeting, further discussing the status of ongoing projects, addressing challenges and identifying solutions to ensure a smooth transition to flight operations at Pakyong Airport.

In addition, the committee members also put forth their suggestions and advised organising educational tours for students providing them hands-on insight into airport operations.

Furthermore, they recommended creating informative videos to keep the public updated on the airport's progress and operations to promote transparency.
