GANGTOK, : The
Centre for Computers and Communication Technology (CCCT), Chisopani said the
institute has achieved full accreditation from the National Board of
Accreditation (NBA) with its remaining two diploma programmes receiving
accreditation.
With
the latest accreditation of Diploma in Civil Engineering and Diploma in
Electronics and Communication Engineering, all five core departments of the
government polytechnic are now NBA-accredited.
The
accreditation followed evaluation of the compliance reports submitted by the
institution and an expert team data verification visit conducted on July 10,
2026, informs a press release.
The
NBA has granted accreditation to the two programmes under the Tier-I format for
the period from July 1 to December 31, 2026, followed by accreditation from
January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2029. The accreditation also takes into account
prior compliance for the academic years 2023-24 to 2025-26, up to June 30,
2026.
The
evaluation was carried out against a nine-criteria performance matrix
comprising 1,000 marks and was conducted by an expert panel that included
senior professors from IIT Dharwad and Delhi University.
The
Civil Engineering Department has become the first department of its kind in
Sikkim to receive NBA accreditation, marking a significant milestone for
technical education in the state, the officials said.
With
the latest accreditation, the five accredited departments of CCCT are Civil
Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and
Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics and Communication
Engineering.
The
institution said the achievement reflects its continued efforts towards
academic excellence, institutional quality and improvement of technical
education standards in Sikkim.
