Engineers’ Inter-Departmental Futsal Tournament 2026: Round of 16 concludes with high-scoring encounters

GANGTOK,: The fourth day of the Engineers’ Inter-Departmental Futsal Tournament 2026, organised by the All Sikkimese Diploma Engineers’ Association (ASDEA) in collaboration with the Futsal Association of Sikkim (FAS) as part of the Engineers’ Day 2026 celebrations, witnessed two exciting encounters at the GMC Futsal Arena.

The first match of the day saw Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) take on RDD South West. RDD South West produced a dominant display, securing a comprehensive 10–0 victory and advancing to the quarterfinals.

The second encounter featured PHE Department and Social Welfare Department. PHE Department put up a strong performance to emerge victorious with a 6–2 win, securing their place in the quarterfinals.

The matches were graced by Gayden Chopel Bhutia, Commissioner, Gangtok Municipal Corporation, Government of Sikkim, as the Chief Guest, along with Tharkela Bhutia, President, Futsal Association of Sikkim (FAS); Bikram Tiwari, Vice President, Futsal Association of Sikkim (FAS); and Tseten T. N. Lachungpa, Assistant Engineer, PHE Department, Government of Sikkim, as Guests of Honour.

The distinguished guests interacted with the participating teams and the organising committee, extending their encouragement and best wishes for the successful continuation of the tournament.

With these two matches, the Round of 16 officially concluded, setting the stage for the much-anticipated Quarterfinals, which begin tomorrow.
