SDF celebrates 50th Statehood Day

GANGTOK, : The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) on Friday celebrated the 50th State Day of Sikkim at its head-office here with reflections on the past and discussions on the future roadmap for the State.

Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, also the SDF president, chaired the programme, informs a SDF press release.

In his address, Chamling appealed to the people of Sikkim for their collective participation for building Sikkim’s future. He recalled the contributions of the past SDF government for comprehensive development of Sikkim and milestones achievement in key sectors like human resource development, infrastructure building, organic State, women empowerment, tourism growth and social justice.

The SDF president urged the people to use their democratic rights to address the declining political values in Sikkim at present, the release states. He expressed that in the coming days, Sikkim has to face stronger multi-dimensional challenges from global to national to regional levels.

SDF will continue with its efforts to protect the dignity of Sikkimey Janata despite the challenges ahead, said Chamling. He called upon the youth of Sikkim to work for the State’s future. He urged other sections of the Sikkimese society to render their contributions in the new mission for Sikkim’s development.

Several resolutions in the interests of Sikkim and its people were proposed and adopted by the SDF during the event.
