Surendra Agarwal Memorial inter-school tennis tournament starts at DPS Siliguri

GANGTOK,: Surendra Agarwal Memorial Inter-School G.U.T.S UTR Tennis Tournament 2026 started Thursday at Delhi Public School, Siliguri campus amid much fanfare.

The opening ceremony had Dr. Vishal Golay, a renowned doctor of Siliguri, as the chief guest, social worker Deepankar Arora and Anand Bhalotia from UTR as the guests of honour and Maxwell Hospital and Research Centre COO Suvodeep Mukherjee as the special guest.

Also present were Bidya Bharati Foundation president and DPS Siliguri pro vice chairperson Kamlesh Agarwal, DPS Siliguri and DPS Fulbari chairperson Sharad Agarwal, DPS Siliguri and Fulbari director Snigdha Agarwal, DPS Siliguri principal Anisha Sharma, vice principal Sukanta Ghosh, head master Amlan Sarkar and head mistress Moumita Debnath Pradhan, informs a press release.

The tournament commenced with a floral tribute to the founder pro vice chairperson of Delhi Public School, Siliguri, Late Surendra Agarwal.

Principal Anisha Sharma, and in her welcome address, emphasized the importance of encouraging sports like tennis to foster a spirit of healthy competition.

Chief guest Dr. Vishal Golay and guest of honour Deepankar Arora, in their addresses, thanked the school management for organizing sports events on this scale to encourage children to participate in sports like tennis for physical and mental wellbeing.

After oath taking by the sports captain of the school balloons were released and the meet was declared open by the chief guest, the release adds.
