24th Mr Sikkim Bodybuilding and 7th Open Men’s and Women’s Physique Championship 2025

GANGTOK, (IPR): The Sikkim State Bodybuilding Association, affiliated to the Sikkim Olympic Association and supported by the Sports and Youth Affairs department, organised the 24th Mr Sikkim Bodybuilding and 7th Open Men’s and Women’s Physique Championship 2025 on Saturday at Manan Kendra, Gangtok.

The event was held in the presence of minister of Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, Law and Parliamentary Affairs departments, Raju Basnet as the chief guest and chairperson of Tourism and Civil Aviation department, Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, as the guest of honour.

The championship is being organised as a non-commercial, community-driven initiative, aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision of a ‘Nasha-Mukt’ Sikkim and a health-conscious state. This year’s edition also marks the Silver Jubilee of the association’s official registration under the Law department, Government of Sikkim. With over 200 participants, this year’s event saw one of the highest numbers of entries in any bodybuilding competition in the country.

This year’s championship was judged by Nabin Pradhan, Akinori Negi, Sonam Dadul Bhutia, Vinod Bishwakarma, Rupendra Mukhia, Jay Raj Pradhan, Tenzing Zamyang, Sunanda Tamang, Basant Thapa, Deoraj Bhandari, Suraj Sarki, Sagil John, Ajay Gurung and Sanjay Chettri.

The event also featured a cultural dance performance by students of Tapashree Dance Academy. Gym equipment was distributed to Freedom Society, Sanjeevani Rehabilitation Society, and Sikkim Rehabilitation and Detoxification Center. A musical performance was also presented by the teacher-student duo of Sherap Sangmu Bhutia and Noel Lepcha.

The occasion witnessed the presence of secretary of Food and Civil Supplies department Anil Raj Rai, along with presidents of various associations and other key stakeholders.

The welcome address was delivered by the president of the Sikkim State Bodybuilding Association, Arun Gurung and the vote of thanks was presented by Lakshmi Gurung.
