2nd Governor’s Gold Cup to kick off from October 5

GANGTOK,: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay on Saturday met the Executive Body of the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), along with the Secretary and Director of the Sports Department, at Mintokgang.

We had a productive discussion on the upcoming 42nd All India Governor’s Gold Cup Tournament 2026, which is scheduled to commence on 5th October 2026, shared the Chief Minister on social media.

He directed the Sports Department and the SFA to work in close coordination and cohesion towards the further development of football in Sikkim, with a special focus on nurturing, promoting, and providing greater opportunities to the local players.

“The Governor’s Gold Cup is a prestigious sporting tradition of Sikkim, and I look forward to an exciting tournament that showcases the spirit and talent of football. My best wishes to the SFA, participating teams, players, officials, and all football enthusiasts for a successful and memorable tournament,” said the Chief Minister.

The Governor’s Gold Cup is organized annually during October-November by the SFA at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok.
