Bista appointed as Sikkim BJP in-charge

GANGTOK, : Darjeeling Lok Sabha MP Raju Bista was on Wednesday appointed as the BJP Sikkim in-charge with the State BJP leadership here stating that it brings renewed momentum to the party in Sikkim.

Bista replaces the incumbent State BJP in-charge Dilip Jaiswal as the BJP national leadership made a series of new appointments for various States.

In a media statement, the Darjeeling MP expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Nitin Nabin and the senior leadership of the party for reposing their trust and confidence, and entrusting him with the responsibility of BJP State in-charge for Sikkim.

“I accept this responsibility with due humility and a deep sense of honour. For me, in addition to this being an organisational assignment, it is also an opportunity to serve the party, our karyakartas, the people of Sikkim, and improve coordination with the NDA Alliance partners,” he said.

Bista is probably the first politician from the Nepali-speaking community to be appointed as the State in-charge of a national party for Sikkim.

“In Sikkim, my priority will be to work closely with our BJP Sikkim State leadership and karyakartas at every level. We will work to strengthen the organisational structure, and deepen our connection with the people. We will address the aspirations and concerns of citizens effectively. We will strive to build an organisation that is inclusive and firmly rooted at the grassroots,” said Bista.

The new State in-charge added that he looks forward to working together with the State party’s senior leaders, dedicated karyakartas and well-wishers in Sikkim.

Meanwhile, the Sikkm BJP unit has extended its heartiest congratulations and warm welcome to Bista on his appointment as the State in-charge of BJP Sikkim.The appointment, announced by the BJP National leadership as part of the party’s organisational restructuring, brings renewed organisational responsibility and momentum to the BJP in Sikkim, said the State unit.

Sikkm BJP president DR Thapa conveyed his warm congratulations to Bista and expressed confidence that his rich organisational experience, youthful energy and commitment to public service will further strengthen the party organisation across the State.
