FIRST MEDAL FOR SIKKIM IN KHELO INDIA

Twelve days since the games started, Sikkim has finally won a medal in the ongoing ‘Khelo India Youth Games 2020’ at Guwahati.
State weightlifter Pemba Tshering Sherpa won a bronze medal on Monday in the 81 kg weight category (under 21 years) to take Sikkim eight places up to 30th position in the medal’s tally. This is the first-ever medal won by Sikkim in ‘Khelo India Youth Games’.
The Sikkim contingent for the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 has six boxers, four track and field athletes and one weightlifter.  The contingent was led by Sports department assistant director Dilip Chettri and also included two boxing coaches and one manager, a press release informs.
