Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Sikkim Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Raj KumariThapa described the Act as a historic measure by the Union government, providing 33 per cent reservation for women in the LokSabha and State Legislative Assemblies.

She said the legislation would enable women to participate in policy-making and showcase their capabilities and potential.
